Variegated monstera adansonii CARE TIPS

The Variegated Monstera Adansonii is a beautiful, easy-to-care-for plant that can brighten up any space. Here are a few tips to keep your plant looking its best 1) Give it at least 8 hours of indirect sunlight per day
2) Water it once every 7 days with lukewarm water
3) Feed it 1 time per month with slow release fertilizer pellets
4) Fertilize monthly with an organic liquid houseplant fertilizer diluted to half strength.
5) Keep soil evenly moist but not soggy
6) If leaves show signs of browning, add some more shade or move it away from direct sun and reduce watering frequency
7) Prune regularly (we recommend cutting back branches by one third their length), always making sure to cut just above the node
8) To encourage growth in desired areas, pinch off outer leaves when they reach desired size
9). Be careful not to overwater! Most plants like to dry out between watering cycles. You may also want to invest in a humidity tray so your plant gets all the moisture it needs without overdoing it.variegated monstera adansonii

TYPES OF VARIEGATION

There are several types of variegation that can occur in Monstera Adansonii leaves. The most common type is called sectorial, which is when one half of the leaf is green and the other half is white. Another type is marbled, which is when the leaf has green and white patches throughout. There is also stripe variegation, which is when thin green and white stripes run vertically down the length of the leaf. Lastly, there is a variegation with thicker lines that divide up the leaf into four sections – two green and two white. These different types of variegations all have their own unique charm. If you want to make your plant more aesthetically pleasing, try planting it next to another Monstera Adansonii that has a different type of variegation. You will be able to appreciate the variety and enjoy watching your plants grow over time! -Sectorial variegation is the most common.
-Marbled variegation occurs when the green and white strips vary in width along the leaf’s surface.
-Striped variegation has horizontal lines that divide up the surface of each leaf.
-Last but not least, there is blotched or reticulated venegatioin, which occurs on both sides of the leaf’s surface with dark blotches interrupting its light areas or vice versa.variegated monstera adansonii

PESTS AND DISEASES

The Variegated Monstera is susceptible to mealybugs, spider mites, and root rot. Mealybugs are small, white, scale-like insects that feed on plant sap. Spider mites are tiny spider-like creatures that also feed on plant sap. Root rot is a fungal disease that can be caused by overwatering or poor drainage.
To prevent pests and diseases, start with healthy plants and provide them with proper care. Inspect your plants regularly for signs of pests or diseases. Look at their leaves and stems for spots, discolorations, blotches, curling edges, eggs (of pests), webs (spider mites), webbing (carpenter ants), tunnels (root weevils) or general damage. If you see any of these symptoms make sure to quarantine the infected plant immediately so it doesn’t spread its problem to other plants in your collection. Prune away any parts of the plant that have been attacked. You may have to prune back large branches or even trees in severe cases, but be careful not to harm what’s left after doing so.variegated monstera adansonii
